Savour the rich flavours of Chef Ricardo Menta on the new Surf and Turf menu at Thanani
The surf and turf has long been a favorite dish for those who could never make up their mind, and for the same reason, the humble brunch has become an institution across the UAE. Now Thanani’s new Surf & Turf Brunch offers all you can eat luxury every Saturday from 1pm to 5pm.
Featuring the finest selection of local and imported ingredients, diners can enjoy a selection of mocktails, grilled halal meats from the live BBQ cooking station and a sumptuous selection of seafood.
Thanani lives up to its name, pairing modern European and Middle Eastern ingredients and now combining the taste of the ocean with the flavours of perfectly cooked choice meats. The specially curated brunch menu from Head Chef Ricardo Menta offers delicious starters such as fresh or breaded oysters, steamed prawns, and Ras el Hanout cured Loch Duart salmon. The salad station, serving fregola, potato and chive, roasted vegetables, and green leaf salads, whets diners’ appetites for the main event.
Halal only meats, such as sirloin steak, beef burgers, and Turkish marinade boneless chicken are paired with BBQ jumbo prawns and maple smoked brisket, as well as options such as vegetarian burgers and corn on the cob, to create a Surf & Turf Brunch menu that is sure to satisfy even the most ravenous of Saturday brunch-goers.
Our favourites were: The Beef Burger customised according to our preference and taste. The advantage is that you have numerous spices and sauces to choose from to transform your burger into your own creation. The next was the grilled sea bass in fresh herb dressing that tasted as fresh as if it had been taken from the sea and cooked right away. The sauce and the seasoning was just perfect without overwhelming our senses.
Next on the brunch menu is the 4 option desserts that one can choose from. Our favourite was the Coconut Parfait with strawberry, pineapple and mint salsa. It looked as exotic as it tasted. Other options included: Chocolate cake with chocolate tuile served alongside cardamom ice cream; Tiramisu with toasted almonds and vanilla ice cream; Roasted apple tarte served with fresh fruits and sorbets.
Keeping the food aside, Thanani is well known for its stunning views that overlook the Al Zohra Golf club. Once you’ve had your fill, the impressively large open terrace that adorns the outside of Thanani’s restaurant in Ajman overlooks the mangrove forests, creek and the rest of the golf course. Upon entering, we felt like we were in a different country altogether.
Our verdict: The food and the sight are not to be missed. One gets the best of both worlds and an overall great ambience too.
The brunch costs AED 190 per person and children under 12 eat for free.
Thanani is open from 12:00 pm to 12:00 am on Saturday through Wednesday and 1:00 pm – 1:00 am on Thursday and Friday. For reservations or enquiries, please call 06 573 3109 or email reservations@thanani.com
