From fresh mocktails to delicious Mediterranean salads with tangy spices, Carine is the kind of place that will help you forget the grey skylines of a serious corporate world and now diners can enjoy a new selection of French Mediterranean inspired dishes.
Plates to grace the new menu include Tuna Tartar with avocado, sesame seeds and an aromatic truffle dressing and Canadian lobster, served with crunchy iceberg lettuce, asparagus and a yuzu dressing. Diners can also indulge in juicy 50 hours cooked Short Rib – cooked sous vide – served with roasted Padron peppers, carrots and sweet baby onions.
For those who’ve left room after their, entrées, the restaurant’s dessert menu isn’t shy of options either. Tangy Passion fruit Cheesecake and the signature Tarte Tatin can be ordered alongside a cup of coffee brewed from a blend crafted exclusively for Carine.
Diners can choose to dine à l’air frais on the outlet’s vast terrace that offers fabulous views of Emirates Golf Club and Dubai’s iconic marina silhouette, or in the chic restaurant that boasts floor to ceiling windows flooding the outlet with light.
At Carine, we started off with the passionfruit mocktail and grilled watermelon salad served with feta cheese and walnut. The exotic salad was very fresh and juicy and the saltiness of the feta combined well with the nutty flavour of the walnuts and the sweet juice of the melon.
Another starter was the Tuna carpaccio, with grape gelish dressing. The chef truly knew how to melange the flavours of fruits with seafood so well that you couldn’t tell apart that they could come from two totally different distinctive food categories. We were impressed with the starters.
When it came down to the main course, the seafood risotto with pistachio was what took our breath away. It smelled like a spice market located in Morocco and actually tasted like a true Venetian risotto with distinctive spices enjoyed on a gloomy winter’s day. My description cannot do it real justice, as the fusion of assorted seafood and wholesome spices took this classic Italian Arborio dish to a whole new level. Unlike I have ever tried.
Our next favourite main course was the tomato gravy hammour fish served with cumin rice. It took us back down memory lane to our trip to Sri Lanka where we ate freshly served fish curry with rice every day.
The next treat was the dessert, and as usual, even the cheesecake was a unique experience. It was a passion fruit cheesecake made with cream cheese and mascarpone cheese topped with passion fruit jelly custard and a few exotic zesty decorations. The taste was sweet and salty, and had a soft taste of fruit punch. Delicious!
The tiramisu was served like a custard pudding but tasted like a pure and ethnically accurate Italian soft cake with mascarpone cheese and intense coco powder. Another one of our favourites!
Dining at Carine was truly an experience of multicultural flavours and made us realise why it was a one-of-a-kind venue for Mediterranean food lovers. Chef Izu Ani truly knows how to blend and diversify with different spices as and when he pleases. He impressed us greatly.
Our verdict: We highly recommend this place and we will be going back again!
