Chef Francisco Sanabria, Chef De Cuisine of the Rosewood Abu Dhabi’s signature fine dining restaurant Catalan, invites you to take a culinary trip along the Spanish Coastline and enjoy its bountiful seafood and fish.
With beautifully set tables, traditional furniture and floor to ceiling windows, Catalan has a lovely, warm ambience looking out over the views of the garden and the Abu Dhabi skyline beyond.
Catalan is well known for its artistic combination of traditional and contemporary to create a unique gourmet experience. KM had the pleasure of visiting this week to enjoy the new tasting menu of ‘Along the Spanish Coastline’.
This exquisite menu showcases the most delicious seafood Spain has to offer such as ‘Txangurro’ Imperial Crab, ‘Percebes’ and Red Prawns directly from the Atlantic Ocean.
The menu was interesting, varied and very tasty. Our favorites were the scallops salpicón with tomato, pepper and a citrus sauce, which had a fresh, zesty flavour; the tuna belly with patatas bravas and piquillo sauce; Banda rice with seafood; and Catalan’s own version of a carbonara pasta.
By far the most interesting dish was the steamed precepts (gooseneck barnacle). A rare seafood delicacy, they have the flavour of lobster with the texture of an oyster splashed in sea water.
We departed after our wonderful meal feeling like we had had a bit of a holiday sampling the different and flavoursome seafood dishes.
