Across time and culture, flowers have been a form of communication and symbolize growth, positivity and optimism. The IDdesign 2018 catalogue is all that and more. Inspired by home décor predictions and learnings from Japan, the catalogue explores the influence of Hanakotoba – the ancient Japanese art of assigning meanings to flowers -which is apparent throughout the collection through floral room themes.
Wooded textures, soft furnishings and botanical inspired designs are repeated throughout the 2018 catalogue which focusses on the 3 style groups which are Nordic, Classic and Modern Sophistication. A highlight of the collection is the KOBE sofa, crafted with soft red velvet fabric that replicates peony petals. Peonies are the ‘King of Flowers’ and are a symbol of good fortune as per Hanakotoba.
Similar colourpalettes are used to style full rooms, from sofa’s and cushions to carpets all within similar pantones to complete the look. The collection also includes brass mixed with marble, metal and ceramic pieces in earthy and neutral tones.
