When I was invited to discover this exclusive UK luxury skincare brand, 111Skin, by trying out one of three facial treatments at none other than the award-worthy SPA, Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort, the word ‘revolutionary’ caught my eye. Always in need of a facial, but never enough hours in the day to make time for one, if I’m going to squeeze one into my busy schedule, I’m looking for something unique and intriguing and 111Skin offered this and more. I opted for the Celestial Diamond facial using their intensive collection of products containing performance-enhancing diamond powder to facilitate the deeper absorption of powerful anti-ageing actives for intense uplifting, firming and brightening effects.

The eponymous 111Skin skincare range was developed by Dr. Yannis Alexandrides, a British and American board certified cosmetic surgeon, who established 111 Harley St. – one of London’s premier clinics in 2001. 111 Harley St. combines the most advanced surgical and non-surgical treatments from the US and Europe and focuses heavily on prevention as well as cure. 111Skin was developed utilising Dr. Alexandrides’ knowledge, clinical observations and innovative ingredients. The Experience

Already a fan of SPA, Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort, I was looking forward to their customary warm welcome and magical ginger tea that aids digestion and restores calm if one feels a little frazzled upon arrival! Once changed into the soft fleecy robe and after a quick, but effective rest in the relaxation area, I was shown to the treatment room and invited to relax while the foot cleanse ritual was performed in warm water using a tea tree cleanse followed by Jasmine and black pepper soak.

Feeling suitably relaxed, I was ready to move to the wonderful treatment bed – and I don’t use the word ‘bed’ lightly… it is heated to your preferred temperature and once settled, you are covered in Egyptian cotton bed sheets and a feather duvet – bliss!

The facial started with a double clinical cleanse using two types of intensive cleansers to ensure better penetration of active ingredients. My skin was left feeling deeply refreshed. Next came the essence infusion – a rescue compress for the skin that is recommended by Dr. Yannis after all non-medical procedures performed in the Spa or the Clinic. The therapist used a small wand with a metal ball at the end of it to compress the essence into my skin more effectively. The metal wand was surprisingly refreshing and added another dimension to the experience. I was then treated to a deep facial massage specially developed to help facial muscles relax, allowing the skin to contract for a lifting and contouring effect. Needless to say, it was heaven and expertly delivered leaving my skin glowing and circulation restored.

Next came the multi acid clinical exfoliator – a double AHA formula that delivers clinical results, which allows the active penetration of ingredients, improves skin radiance, and refines texture. I was ever hopeful that my skin was starting to look as youthful as it was feeling!

The pièce de résistance for me was the ‘Master-Masking’ that was to follow… all treatments are customised utilising technology such as Bio Cellulose, which is used by doctors for skin trauma and Hydrogel – also used following medical trauma. The beauty of this treatment is that it pays careful attention to the décolletage which, as we all know, is equally as important as our facial skin with regards to the signs of ageing. The Hydrogel was applied over my face and my décolletage and gave a wonderful cooling sensation whilst adding to the feeling of luxury and indulgence as the magical ingredients were infusing into my skin.

Once the hydrogel was removed, a magical celestial black diamond serum and cream were slathered over my face and neck using sweeping massage techniques. When I heard the words: “your treatment is complete,” my heart sank. Deeply ensconced in the soft, warm bed, I would have paid good money to have had the lights turned off and to be left to enjoy the soporific effect of being so pampered with truly revolutionary luxury skincare.

When I emerged from the treatment room and examined my skin, I was astounded. It looked fresh, cleansed and felt so much firmer… I didn’t wear foundation for the next few days as I enjoyed the ‘au naturel’ glow. The effects lasted over a week and were prolonged by me being able to continue the use of the products at home. The products are available to purchase at the SPA and the therapist will list their recommendations according to your specific skin concerns.
