Founded in Denmark in 1992 by Lars Skjoth, the Hårklinikken group of clinics is a series of specialised hair restoration facilities located in Denmark, Germany, the US and Dubai.
Hårklinikken offers individualised treatment for hair loss, based on proprietary products, pioneering techniques and unique treatment systems. The cornerstone in Hårklinikken product treatment is a special customised liquid called an ‘extract’. Extracts are mainly plant-based and also contain specific combinations of food source ingredients such as plant proteins and unique complexes of amino acids, minerals and fatty acids. Hårklinikken also offers a unique range of specialised shampoos, conditioners, and styling products which support the effect of the extracts.
Exchanging ordinary hair care and styling products for Hårklinikken’s products is often sufficient to treat a hair loss problem. All products are of the highest quality and are free from perfume, colour and preservatives. Customization of the ingredients contained in each client’s extract and the ongoing adjustment of each client’s extract, as the treatment progresses, is essential. Treatment takes place at home and needs to be maintained for some time once desired results are achieved. The extract is applied every night and rinsed out with special shampoos and conditioners in the morning. Follow-up consultations are ongoing.
Over the last 10 years, Hårklinikken has developed unique hair transplantation techniques using the principles of Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). Hårklinikken’s highly sophisticated FUE techniques allow for each hair follicle (up to 7,000) to be removed from the donor site, and transplanted one by one with minimally invasive instruments. Skin heals very rapidly and results are seen after 6-8 months.
Hårklinikken has also developed the more specialised “LHFUE” procedure, or Long Hair Follicular Unit Extraction, where long hairs are extracted from the donor site and placed in between existing long hairs. This is an attractive option for clients who wish to avoid trimming of the hair during the DIP process (see below). Although “LHFUE” is an extremely advanced and complicated procedure, Hårklinikken experts are able to extract and place as many as 4000 hair follicles in one 7-8 hour session.

Density Improvement Program (DIP) is the name of Hårklinikken’s special treatment program for both men and women. DIP is based on a philosophy of treating hair loss that ensures clients completely natural, lasting results and optimal hair density, by combining individualised Hårklinikken products with unique methods of hair transplantation. With DIP, the cost for restoring hair can be minimised dramatically through use of the tailor-made product treatment programs alone if the Hårklinikken therapist considers this to be a solution.
Physiological hair loss
This type of hair loss can be caused by stress, malnutrition, anaemia, scalp disorders, bad water quality, hair product chemicals, hair straighteners, hair extensions, hair pulling and more. Hårklinikken’s treatments have proved to be very efficient for this kind of hair loss.
Mild androgenetic hair loss
This is the most common type of hair loss for men and women and is also known as hereditary hair loss. At this stage, the hair follicles are still active and we are able to reverse the hair loss process, improve the hair quality and stabilise the hair.
Advanced androgenetic hair loss
It is also known as hereditary hair loss. This category of hair loss is more common for men but also occurs with women, and typically, hair transplantation would be recommended.
Hair loss caused by disease and/or medication
Clients suffering from a disease that is directly or indirectly causing hair loss are normally not good candidates for treatment and are often referred to another specialist outside the realm of Hårklinikken.
