Why This Treatment?
After a hot and humid couple of months with a busier than ever schedule, my skin was visibly suffering from a summer of maltreatment with enlarged blocked pores, dry patches and an oily T-zone. It was looking dull and ageing and in desperate need of a deep cleanse and some TLC. The Anti-Free Radical treatment promises to give the deep cleanse, but with the added benefits of nourishing the skin with vitamins and tackling premature ageing, pigmentation and sun damage – perfect!
The Experience
Tips & Toes Yas Mall is a bustlingly busy salon – not quite the Zen spa experience that one might be expecting, but its location makes it a winner for me, allowing a busy schedule to combine shopping with ‘me time.’
I was shown through to my facial room where a brief consultation with the therapist clarified that the Anti-Free Radical treatment was definitely what was needed and I was soon relaxing on the treatment bed in eager anticipation of seeing my skin transformed to be ‘summer ready’ in time for my travels.
The therapist started with a gentle eye makeup remover and facial cleanser, followed by a refreshing toner. Then the magic began. A multi-vitamin and detoxifying enzyme powder was rubbed all over my face before steam was applied for a good 10-15 minutes to allow the enzyme powder to set to work and my pores to open ready for extraction. The steam session was relaxing particularly, as it was accompanied by a gentle head and neck massage, which eased stresses and tension away and left me feeling very zen!
The enzyme powder was removed with cold water and facial sponges before a thorough – and very painful – extraction session! I was relieved when the extraction was over and my skin welcomed the phytogel foaming cleanser, which both tingled and soothed as it deeply cleansed. A face massage cream was then applied ready for a firm and stimulating, but relaxing, massage.
The final stage of the treatment was a vitamin-enriched cream mask. Firstly, an anti-stress eye cream was applied around my eyes before strips of gauze were laid over my face and the rich cream mask was spread thickly over the gauze and allowed to set. Whilst it was setting (15 minutes), the therapist gently massaged my neck and arms, sending me off into a power nap slumber! I didn’t want the treatment to end, but eventually, the mask, which had set hard, was lifted off before a final cleanse using cold water and sponges and toner was applied. My fully prepped skin was ready for some power absorption and was aptly treated to a Ginkgo Biloba anti-stress eye treatment and vitamin concentrate – a rich cream full of radical-fighting vitamin A, E and D.
The Result
Any trace of scepticism dissipated as I gratefully admired a face transformed! My skin was clear, pores visibly reduced, my skin tone was lighter, brighter and fresher and I looked like I’d lost a few years in just the 75 minutes of treatment! I felt ready for my travels and can gladly report that the results lasted almost a week.
This is definitely a treatment I would recommend to anyone whose skin is suffering from the damaging effects of the hot humid summer, or anyone who is looking for a facial reboot with anti-ageing benefits.
